As Disney battles its way back into operation after a months long shutdown due to Coronavirus, the company still struggles with finding a balance between compliance with CDC safety guidance and the demands of their most entitled guests. In an effort to allow for more guests into the park daily, Disney has announced the complete ban on the use of all strollers and scooters within all four theme parks, both water parks and Wide World of Sports Complex.
This change goes into effect on August 8, 2020.
Disney has been inundated with daily phone calls and emails, mainly from their annual passholders upset with new rules regarding park visits. Claims such as not being able to get a reservation until 2021, cast members offering reservations for $200 up-charge, multiple alleged withdraws for pass payments… the list goes on. However, none of which at the time of printing can be verified by this reporter.
One reader, Karen B., sent us an email she received from Guest Services in response to her complaint regarding availability and the need for face masks. Disney’s response regarding the face masks was simply, “While we are sympathetic to your plight, it was simply more expedient to give the squeaky wheels their oil. Hopefully, putting some cloth over their faces will shut them up.” Disney did not acknowledge Ms. B.’s issues with availability.
Our Unzipped and undercover insiders at Disney tell us that all the whining and complaining just became too much for Bob Iger to enjoy his vacation in Bora Bora. So with a whip of his pen, he increased capacity and set the Disney Parks afire.
Disney’s announcement came with this statement, “NO exceptions. If you cannot walk, stay home. Wait until the virus is over. If your child can’t walk, stay home. Wait until the virus is over. Please do not clog up our phone lines with your complaints. We know you pay a lot of money to come here. This is only temporary. Maybe.” Who knows? The longer this virus sticks around, Iger could have started a trend. Or new inventions… do I see backpack carriages in our future? Stay tuned.
